Summer is here, and wedding season is in full swing.  We know the bride wants to be one of a kind on her special day, and what better way to do that then with a vintage bridal gown? Vintage may be old, but it is far from dated! Many brides are seeking out vintage gowns to add timeless elegance and originality to their wedding.

Messes with Dresses

Bookmark and Share

Ah....the aftermath!  My friend and I went to Veronica's place one Saturday afternoon for some serious female bonding.  We preened in front of a mirror and tried on a lot of pretty dresses in Veronica's inventory, in preparation for our trip to Las Vegas, where I will play the vintage inspired bride, and they, the retro maids of honour.  I don't remember the last time I did such an indulgent and fun thing with just the girls.

We anticipate this trip to be a lot of fun as well as an opportunity to bond with Elvis and to showcase what "Some Like It Vintage" has to offer!  The five of us will all be perfectly decked out.  Even the men will be festive in their vintage Hawaiian shirts.

Well, IT'S NOW OR NEVER.  I won't be CRYING IN THE CHAPEL as I CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE with the notion of being a little DEVIL IN DISGUISE.  I'm ALL SHOOK UP and my little WOODEN HEART will grow 3 sizes bigger on the big day!  MY WISH CAME TRUE when this trip became a reality.  So I'm gonna ROCK-A-HULA BABY!  You'll read all about it when it's all said and done!

Thank you, thank you very much...

When your father-in-law is Ralph Lauren....

.....this is the wedding gown you can have.

This stunning gown took 100 craftspeople 3000 hours to create. The top layer of the gown was made of antique ivory tulle. It was then hand-embroidered with flowers and Renaissance-era scroll designs in silk and metallic thread. Finished with Swarovski crystals and off-white pearl beads.

My favorite part is the high neck and long sleeves. As I've said before, thanks to Kate Middleton, the era of the bustier-4-sizes-too-small wedding gown are over. This is elegant, vintage and timeless. The whole shot is just lovely and the groom is impeccable.
If your budget doesn't allow for hiring Monsieur Lauren, maybe these will do.

Gitin' Hitched to that Ol' Ball & Chain?

Ah, the bliss of matrimony. The romance of a perfectly choreographed wedding day. The beauty of the flowers, music, food and the support of family and friends.
The love exchanged between two soul mates on that special wedding day is un-comparable.

....unless....one....wears....these....outfits....

Well, I suppose you would have to be soul mates to agree on these!

Pimp your wedding.

Where's the top half of the dress?

Who needs a limo?
Well, at least all the wedding guests will have something to do.

The sheep went that way!

Or you could do it this way.

Vintage Brides

My cousin is getting married - tis the season for weddings soon and the bridal shops are definitely humming these days with brides to be. If I were to do it all over again, I would choose a vintage bridal gown - they are beautiful, yet can be challenging to find. With a little custom fitting, (as any bridal gown would be) one can have such a unique gown.

Here is a vintage gown from the 1930s. I am particularly fond of this era as the lines were sleek, elegant and simple.

This stunning beauty is available from Cherished Bride The liquid satin and gorgeous lacework will require the proper undergarments for this bride. High 1930s fashion just waiting for a vintage bride.

Vintage Brides

No, it doesn't mean you are old. But it means you have a conscience.

If you happen to be in Portland, Oregon, the Vintage Bridal Show is happening this weekend and it's a free event. Focusing on affordability and sustainability, it will have everything you need for an eco-friendly wedding.

Not getting married? Me neither....but I'll bet it has some great overall ideas for everyday life!

Where: Overlook House in North Portland

When: March 28/29
