Earthy, Not Dirty

I read recently in a fashion magazine that the idea of being dirty seems to be in style.  The writer thought that this notion goes hand in hand with being eco-chic - less water consumption, less cleansers down the drain etc.  Sure I can go along with that to a point.  It is somewhat sexy to see a guy looking all rugged and sweaty performing a manly task.  But the keyword here is SEE, not SMELL.  The great thing about television or the big screen is that they aren't 'SMELL-O-VISION'.  I can't see many women being turned on by bad body odour or waft of dirty hair.  Although I have heard occasionally about pheromones, the jury is out on that one.

The article then went on to do a tie-in with earthy colours and natural fibres being a part of that 'dirty' trend.  This I could understand.  The 1970's were all about earthy fashions such as chunky, polished stone necklaces, wooden accessories and natural fibres.  Although the infamous polyester pantsuit doesn't exactly fit that trend!

Hippies were everywhere communing in communes.  Hair got longer and their love of all things smokeable became ever stronger.  The 1970's is back stronger than ever these days.  I guess what goes around comes around.

Peace out!

Interesting! I love a boho, earthy look in summer, but I never associated it with dirty or grungy a la 1990's!
