I think that vintage fashions wouldn't be the same without some iconic hairstyles. One famous stylist who comes to mind is Vidal Sassoon. He is a British-born Israeli hairdresser. I was a client for more than a decade at the downtown location, where I saw many apprentices who came and went in search of and to perfect that quintessential Sassoons look.
Sassoon's works were all designed with a modern look for low-maintenance. Sassoon preferred dark, straight, and shiny hair cut into geometric yet organic shapes. In 1963, Sassoon created a short cut now known famously as the "bob cut." His haircuts seemed to be severely cut, but were entirely lacquer-free, relying on the natural shine of the hair for his desired end results. Sassoon was also very successful in marketing his name for many salons and haircare products all around the world.
For me a trip to Sassoon's meant a few hours of pampering in very competent hands. I liked the buzz of the salon. I felt like a part of a well-oiled machine.
Vidal Sassoon is no longer involved with his name-sake salons and products, preferring to focus more on humanitarian efforts. He is a true visionary in his craft and the world of hair would not be the same without his contribution.

I remember well those beautiful sculpted haircuts by Sassoon. I had very thick curly hair so I was envious of the girls at school with Sassoon cuts!
