A dress clip was used in various ways- as a quick update to a dress, or often to accent one's neckline. Worn for a symmetrical or A-symmetrical look, many styles of dresses needed a weight to accent the decolletage.
The dress clip is worn to one side to softly gather the dress for an asymmetrical look.
A pair of dress clips worn symmetrically.
These weigh down the sides of the dress to create an elegant neckline.
Not just for dresses, they can be added to anything!
Pinned to a stunning cloche hat, it is a perfect accent.
Available on ebay, current bid is $20.10.

interesting! I've come across dresses showing the unfortunate damage caused by dress clips not removed when dresses were stored :(
I love dress clips, i really should wear them more often! xx
I've seen them used to beautiful effect as hair decorations, and a late 1940s magazine I have suggests clipping them to your handbag to turn a plain day bag into a pretty evening bag; use them to clip strands of pearls or beads together; and as scarf clips.
What a lovely post!
I like the dress clips changing the neckline.
