That's Another One Off My Bucket List!

Hello everyone. Sorry for the delay in posting. I underestimated how tiring it was to fly the red eye and adjust to jet lag.

We're here!

We got back from our crazy trip to Las Vegas. Husband and I can both agree that the best part for us was renewing our vows. We couldn't have dreamed that it would go so well.

The Chapel was so professional, location was wonderfully cheesy and intimate and Elvis himself, risen from the dead, walked me up the aisle while singing one of my favourites "Can't Help Falling In Love". I was practically swooning from his charm and his stunningly retro powder blue suit!

We were especially touched by the amazing thoughtfulness of Veronica and her boyfriend Alex. They secretly went out the morning of the wedding and got me a beautiful bouquet and boutonniere for Husband. This arrangement was more beautiful than anything I had ever seen out of a Martha Stewart magazine.

This whole retro experience is a dream realised, one item checked off my bucket list. I am especially happy and grateful that Husband loved it too and that our good friends (Julianna, Veronica and Alex) could attend.

Time for a Luau

Luau. Isn't that a great word? The infamous Hawaiian feast featuring traditional music and hula. The favorite dish at these feasts is what gave the luau its name. Young and tender leaves of the taro plant were combined with chicken, baked in coconut milk and called luau.

If you are a purist, leis, Mai Tai's and a poolside atmosphere would not be found anywhere near a traditional Luau. Originally eaten on the floor and without utensils, the luau took on a different vibe in the 50s and 60s. Often incorporating the Tiki theme, the cheese factor was increased - complete with retro hula girl. What would a Tiki themed bar be without her?

Perfectly retro.

Be inspired this summer and throw a Tiki party! Here are some outfits to help you - and feel free to have a Mai Tai! The purists will just have to deal with it.

1950s Cruisin'

The cruise ship company, Crystal Cruises has put together a 1950s themed cruise. Aptly named 'Style Cruise', you can sail the Mediterranean for 12 days dressed in vintage and learning about fashion history.

Stylist and costume designer Anna Wycoff and designer Gayle Davis will present a colorful look at the evolution of European fashion and cinema costuming, offering advice on personal styles....so you can perfect your vintage look!

The cruise will have a fashion show, seminars, and afternoon tea specifically in the 1950s theme.

This is a vintage fashionista's dream! I've never been on a cruise, but when I'm ready to sail I will be looking for something like this one.

Let's get dressed for cruisin'...wouldn't this be fun!
