I know it is no longer spring, in fact the official end of summer occurred yesterday with the Labor Day holiday weekend. But when I received this gorgeous dress in my stock last week, I just had to share with you the warm fuzzy feelings of sprintime - springtime in Paris actually! Can you not hear the Sinatra ballad, "April in Paris"?

Anyone who knows me well, know I love the French. I love everything about the French, even their well-known 'haute de gamme' or snobbiness. (I actually find it amusing!)

They have certainly many things to admire: their cuisines, wines, landscape, history, architecture, literature, fashion...and the list goes on. Working diligently on becoming fluent in French I have yet to visit the fair country, travelling instead closer to home, to Quebec in Canada which is our official French speaking province. Yes, Canada has 2 official languages; English and French. 

So today I share with you this stunning 1950s cotton swing dress with a plethora of Parisian and French images. All invoking springtime,  there are cherry bossoms, horse and carriage, a sophisticated couple walking their poodle (probably pure-bred), tulips, gazebo's, the Musée and of course the Tour Eiffel.

My new favorite this week is this fantastic couture dress by Joan Barrie of New York. Wrapped like a gift, the two tone green has an iridescence to it. A stunning dress that is in near mint condition. What a find!

Perfect Princess

Every woman should feel like a princess at least once. Whether it be on your wedding day, playing dress-up as a child or just having fun with your girlfriends, please embrace your inner Cinderella.

The beauty of selling vintage clothing is I actually try on many of my garments. Luckily I am petite and can fit into most of the smaller sizes - how many times I have not wanted to list a gorgeous dress in my store, just so I can keep it. If I did that, I would have no store and lots of dresses! 

Playing dress-up is fun and I encourage everyone to try it. I recently did this with my sister and my cousin who is getting married soon. We shopped in my store and tried on just about everything. What a hoot! We laughed and had a vintage-y time!

It's a Novel Idea!

Have you ever heard the term "Novelty Dress"? There is such a thing and in the vintage world it refers to a dress that has a unique pattern or picture on it. Something different than a solid color dress, or a dress with geometric, abstract, stripes or dots. A novelty print is akin to a work of art - perhaps capturing a pastoral scene or a Norman Rockwell moment. It is an unexpected, yet pleasant addition to an article of clothing and can hold your attention for a long time!

My New Favorite

I have just listed this stunning 1950s mermaid dress and it has now become my new favorite item in the store. Never being a fan of pink (even as a child), I have, over the past few years grown to enjoy it's tone. This particular shade of pink is overlayed with white & gold threaded lace giving a soft glow to the fabric. The high neck collar and low back line offer an elongated figure for any woman. Such a perfect gown! A steal at $85.
