The Last Time I Saw Paris

On the weekend I settled in front of the fireplace, with my beautiful siberian husky napping on the rug and began watching "The Last Time I Saw Paris". A great 1954 movie with quite the cast!

Elizabeth Taylor
Van Johnson
Walter Pidgeon
Donna Reed
Eva Gabor
Roger Moore....yes, even before "The Saint" - handsome devil.

A traditional love triangle loosely based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's Babylon Revisited. A gem of a movie I had not heard about.

The point here is that I was drooling over the short hairstyles worn by Elizabeth Taylor, Eva Gabor and Donna Reed. So much so that I am seriously considering chopping my locks off. How elegant they are!

Of course, it helps to have Roger Moore standing behind you pouring champagne, while you recline in a stunning chiffon gown...but I digress.

Ah, the freedom and ease of short, sassy, sexy hair. I have been growing my hair long for so many years, that I have become weary with all the 'in-between stages'. It can be a traumatic event to cut one's hair short. I have done it in the past and it looked fabulous. Looking back however, these shorn haircuts also coincided with major changes in my life - as is often said, 'a change is as good as a holiday'. Perhaps I'm ready for a shakeup - or maybe I will just board a plane and take a holiday. It may be less stressful.

Have you ever made a major change and did it turn out the way you wished?

I've always wanted to see that movie! So interesting to see Liz Taylor with such short hair! I've always had mine in about a chin length bob which is really short for a lot of people but I don't know that I could go as short as Liz in that movie!

On another note, I've always envied people that can grow their hair long. I have baby fine straight as a board hair and so if it gets past my shoulders it starts to look ghastly!

I recently took the plunge and chopped my locks. I was going for more of a 30s look, but it initially looked a lot like Taylor's. It took a bit of getting used to (I'm wearing a lot more hats), but now that it grew a smidge, I'm loving it. I feel less weighed down and yet more feminine (perhaps because I really feel the need to counterbalance the modernity or "gamine" aspect of the 'do with things like earrings and cosmetics). I digress....if torn between a trip and a haircut, I'd choose Paris. But if a literally voyage isn't possible, a haircut can sure make a girl feel transformed!

I adore that movie but I am a fan of all the old B&W movies...watch them over and over. I read somewhere that we always revert back to a hairstyle that we had in our late teens or early 20s. For me, this seems to ring true. I have worn my hair from 1" short (darn near shaved my noggin') to long at my waist. I seem to always settle a little shorte than my shoulders...which is how I always wore it back then (WAY back then). I too have been toying with going to a Pixie cut like Taylor's...wish I could have those violet eyes to match!

You know, I've been finding myself deeply drawn to Liz's shorter locks this year, too. Though I don't plan to go that short any time soon myself, I admire the timelessly beauty of the shorter styles she sported and how they conveyed such a sense of glamorous femininity.

Thank you dearly for your wonderfully lovely comments, honey! I really hope that you're having an amazing week!
