The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle, with...
Gilligan...He is smartly dressed in cotton, sea-worthy trousers, cheery red shirt, a sensible deck hat and canvas shoes to anchor the whole ensemble. He is the trusty first mate ready for that extended tour as this show is bound to become! Gilligan looks the part as a simple sidekick.
The Skipper too....looks comfortably dressed for his leadership role at hand, in similar style as Gilligan, topped with a cheeky Captain's hat to say "hey, I'm the fat guy with authority!"
The Millionaire...is next. He looks dashing and inappropriately dressed for a 3-hour tropical tour. The damp heat is the perfect foil for that ascot, expensive shirt and jacket. He drags along the perfect accessories to this outfit - trunks full of clothing and loose money. It is the chic statement that screams "what am I doing on this tiny boat?"And His Wife...graces the stage now, elegantly dressed on her petite frame. Her long, white gloves complete a feminine and impractical outfit, ready to hit the sands of a desolate island. Her breeding and upper class clearly show by her gestures and helpless air.

The Movie Star is next and wow, is she a knock-out! In her gold lamé evening dress, curiously worn for a day trip out at sea, she is the embodiment of sex appeal. Marilyn, eat your heart out!
The Professor is practically dressed in his Oxford shirt and cotton trousers. His straight-laced sneakers are ready to spring into action the next time he invents something impossible out of palm fronds and coconuts, but he is still curiously baffled by a small hole in the S.S. Minnow.
And Mary Ann, is last but certainly not least in her adorable gingham shirt and impossibly tight shorts. This sweet symbol of the American Midwest is feisty and rather industrious as she is able to recreate her coconut cream pie on demand. But where does the flour dough and crust come from..and the pie plates?

Here on Gilligan's Isle... we enjoyed this very kooky television series from 1964-1967. We saw its transformation from black and white to colour. We saw a very strange gathering of people "suffering" as castaways on a desert island. This show asks the eternal question, "Ginger or Mary Ann?" Unfortunately, it never seemed to ask the question "What about the Skipper?!"
