He'll Be Stayin' Alive in our Hearts Forever

And then there was one.

ROBIN GIBB circa 1969Robin Gibb passed away recently after losing his battle with cancer, at the young age of 62.  The Brothers Gibb made history with their soundtrack to the movie "Saturday Night Fever".  Brother Barry is the sole survivor of the Bee Gees trio, so famous in the 1970's.  Youngest brother Andy passed away suddenly in 1988.

“I sometimes wonder if all the tragedies my family has suffered — like Andy and Maurice dying so young and everything that’s happened to me recently — is a kind of karmic price we are paying for all the fame and fortune we’ve had,” Robin said recently.

Born in Manchester (with 3 brothers and 1 sister), but raised in Brisbane, Australia, Gibb and his brothers became child stars with a hit in 1963, "The Battle of the Blue and Grey", which they performed on national television.  The trio returned to Britain in 1967 and soon had several more hit songs.

I think of Robin Gibb as being part of a phenomenon that is enduring and everlasting.  Their falsetto tones cannot be properly imitated.  Gibb was a quiet man who let his brother and front man Barry be the spokesman for the group.

Gibb was passionate about music and that showed in everything he did and the effect he had on those around him.

How sad of a week it was to lose both Robin and Donna.
